A host or welcome family needed for students arriving Thursday, August 13th

Will you or someone you know provide a host or welcome family for one of these foreign exchange students and young ambassadors of peace? They are planning to arrive Thursday, August 13th but are waiting to find a responsible and caring family to accept them.

Thomas, 16, Germany: sax player who hopes to join a school orchestra; studies French

Fluke, 16, Thailand: Buddhist; enjoys Math and Thai boxing; wants to be a pharmacist

Zippy, 17, Czech Republic: worked in a restaurant this summer; plans to study languages

If you are not in a position to host one of these students for the academic school year, then would you consider opening your heart and home as a "welcome family" until we find a more a home for the remaining 10-months? Here is a bit more about these three students. If you have an interest in becoming a Welcome or Host Family, please contact me as soon as possible at 505-603-6077 or email me at joanlucci@gmail.com. I will provide a complete profile, an essay written by the student, and more information about this program.

Thomas enjoys taking karate and would like to continue, if possible, in the U.S. He plays the saxophone and would like to join the high school orchestra. Thomas describes himself as very open minded towards customs and new ways of life. He has two brothers and would enjoy living with other children. He also considers himself a pretty liberal minded student. Thomas has been taking French for 6 years and along with his English studies, hopes to continue classes in the U.S. He is Protestant and attends services occasionally. GPA: 3.50

Siwa, nicknamed Fluke, is described as a very caring and compassionate boy who enjoys singing, which helps him de-stress, playing basketball, swimming, cooking Thai cuisine and performing traditional Thai dances. Fluke lives with his parents, who are doctors, an older brother, and a little dog named Toto. He is Buddhist and practices occasionally. His favorite subject is mathematics and he wants to become a pharmacist. He is very close with his mother and is very excited to share his Thai culture, Thai dancing and Thai boxing with that of his new host family! GPA: 4.00

David, nicknamed Zippy, is a friendly and active young man who enjoys four-wheeling, snowboarding, water-skiing, motocross, and other extreme sports. He is a hard worker and has worked as a waiter in a restaurant during the summers. Zippy’s favorite
subjects are foreign languages, geography, and physical education. He would like to study foreign languages after high school. Zippy is excited to meet his new host family and experience America. GPA: 3.50
